 PORTLAND, Maine – This month marks the 35th anniversary of Portland law firm Murray, Plumb & Murray (MPM), founded in May 1973 by Peter Plumb, Peter Murray and the late E. Stephen (Steve) Murray. PORTLAND BALLET TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR AUGUST NEW WORKS SHOWCASE
 PORTLAND, Maine – Portland Ballet will hold open auditions for dancers for the upcoming August performances of Portland Dances: A New Works Showcase. Now in its seventh year, this annual performance provides emerging choreographers from Portland and surrounding areas with an opportunity to create and present new contemporary works. The auditions will be at Portland Ballet studios, 517 Forest Ave., Portland on Sunday, June 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Studio will open at 10:30 a.m. for warm-up. Dancers must be at least 15 years old and available to rehearse in June, July and August. All dancers who are interested in performing this summer are encouraged to attend this open call.

BRUCE HANGEN TO CONDUCT MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS FOR PORTLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, TICKETS ON SALE MAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 2008 PERFORMANCES
 PORTLAND, Maine – Local favorite Bruce Hangen will return to Portland in December to conduct this year’s Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO) Magic of Christmas performances at Merrill Auditorium. Tickets go on sale at noon on Monday, May 5 for all performances.

 PORTLAND, Maine – Portland School of Ballet (PSB) is proud to announce its student summer 2008 list of acceptances to internationally recognized intensive dance programs. These talented and dedicated students will travel to cities all over the country to continue their dance training and education throughout the summer months.

BULL MOOSE WELCOMES LOCAL BAND DEAD SEASON FOR TWO LIVE IN-STORE PERFORMANCES IN BANGOR AND LEWISTON, MAY 20 AND 21
  BANGOR, Maine – To celebrate the release of their new CD, Oxford, Maine metal/rock band Dead Season will perform two intimate acoustic in-store performances at Bull Moose stores in Bangor and Lewiston. Their new CD, When Everything’s Lost, will be officially released on Tuesday, May 20, and the band will appear that day at the Bangor Bull Moose in the Maine Square Mall, 683 Hogan Road. They perform again the next day, Wednesday, May 21, at the Lewiston Bull Moose in the Lewiston Mall, 20 East Avenue. Both sets begin at 5:30 p.m. and the band will sign CDs after the shows. PORTOPERA’S MAINE’S EMERGING ARTISTS PROGRAM PRESENTS “TOO MANY SOPRANOS,” IN FIVE LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE, BEGINNING JUNE 20
 PORTLAND, Maine – Prepare for laughter and fun when PORTopera’s Maine’s Emerging Artists (MEA) program presents Edwin Penhorwood’s comic, light-hearted opera, “Too Many Sopranos.” The two-act opera is performed in English and spoofs traditional opera stereotypes, stock plots, and traditional staging. This fun and comical performance will be directed by Ellen Chickering, a noted soprano and a member of the voice faculty in the USM School of Music, and will be performed in five venues throughout Maine and New Hampshire. The first performance will be held at the Portland Museum of Art, Friday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m.

THE CHORAL ART SOCIETY WILL HOLD AUDITIONS FOR CAMERATA IN PORTLAND JUNE 9
 PORTLAND, Maine – The Choral Art Society (CAS) will hold auditions for its a cappella chamber ensemble, Camerata, on Monday, June 9 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The auditions will be held at the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church located at 524 Allen Avenue, Portland, Maine. MAINE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL’S FREE HOLOCAUST DAY FILM PROJECT FEATURES “I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN YOU – THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF SIMON WIESENTHAL” SUNDAY, MAY 4
 PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Jewish Film Festival brings the community together to remember the devastating legacy of the Holocaust, to honor survivors and remember the millions lost, through the presentation of the sixth annual Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Day) Film Project. This year features “I Have Never Forgotten You – The Life and Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal (2007),” on Sunday, May 4. The screening will be held at the Hannaford Lecture Hall in the Abromson Community Education Center at USM, 88 Bedford St., Portland. Hog Island Audubon Center Provides Scholarship Funds to Maine Teens for Marine Science Exploration
 BREMEN, Maine – Hog Island Audubon Center, a unique environmental vacation destination in midcoast Maine, introduces Coastal Maine Marine Science Exploration, a new summer program designed for teens ages 14-17. Scholarship funds are available for Maine Teens, provided through Hog Island, in an effort to help engage Maine Youth in nature and the enviornment. The session takes place July 20-26. The fee of $1,150 includes all food, lodging, instruction, and field trips.

PORTLAND SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 2007-2008 SEASON CONCLUDES WITH ROBERT MOODY CONDUCTING TUESDAY MAY 6
 PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO)’s 2007-08 season will close with a spectacular concert conducted by incoming PSO Music Director Designate Robert Moody on Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. HOG ISLAND AUDUBON CENTER ANNOUNCES PROGRAM WITH RENOWNED ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHOR LYNNE CHERRY
 BREMEN, Maine – Hog Island Audubon Center, a unique environmental vacation destination in midcoast Maine, is introducing a new residential program, “Teaching Kids about Climate Change: A Workshop with Lynne Cherry,” based on the award-winning children’s author’s newest book titled, How We Know What We Know About Our Changing Climate: Scientists and Kids Explore Global Warming, co-authored with Gary Braasch. This book explores the science behind the headlines of climate change and challenges youth, as well as their families and teachers to take actions to prevent it. This session, which is open to teachers, parents, and other interested adults, takes place July 23-26.
