Camden International Film Festival

CAMDEN (NEWS CENTER) -- The Camden International Film Festival will have some definite Maine flavor again this year. The festival highlights documentary films and filmmakers from all over the country, and beyond.

Now in its fifth year, the CIFF has a growing audience, and filmmakers themselves say the festival has become a valuable place to showcase new work.

Among the films at this year's event is one about fishermen in Port Clyde, struggling against increasing regulation and economic pressures to stay in business, and keep their community and way of life alive. "The Fish Belong To The People" focuses on the Port Clyde groundfishermen as they work to create a new way to market themselves to the rest of the state. It is the first feature-length film by William Hyler, and will have its world premiere at the festival.

Also showing at the festival is "A Chemical Reaction", a film by Brett Plymale. It focuses on a Canadian town that decide to ban the use of lawn chemicals, and follows well-known Maine landscape expert Paul Tukey as he explores the issue.

There are films showing on a number of screens around the Camden / Rockland area. You can find the full schedule at:
